What is DNS?

Why is DNS important?

When I change the DNS entries, how long will it take for my domain name to work?

How do I know what DNS to use when I edit my domain record?

What is DNS?
The Domain Name System (DNS) is a distributed Internet directory service. DNS also refers to Domain Name Servers. DNS is used mostly to translate between domain names and IP addresses, and to control Internet email delivery.

Why is DNS important?
Each server at Netevo has specific DNS assigned to it. In order for your domain to work and for it to point to your account on the server, you must change the DNS entries on your domain record to the DNS assigned to the server.

When I change the DNS entries, how long will it take for my domain name to work?
It should only take 24 hours. If it takes more than 72 hours (and others can see your site yet you cannot), you need to contact your Internet Service provider because for some reason their DNS is not updating. Usually there are no delays, however.

How do I know what DNS to use when I edit my domain record?
Your activation email provides the DNS you'll need to set your domain name to. And remember, it will take 24 hours to take effect.
