Some of you may have noticed that you didn’t receive last month’s issue. That is because we did not have one! Last month issue was skipped because of time restraints cause by the updating of our servers and location. If you are a regular client you should see an improvement on our site. If you use our hosting service, you will be move to the new system within the week, and should notice an improvement. Thank you for your patience.
Dynamic Web Pages
Wouldn’t it be nice if your web site updated itself? For instance, you and your visitors would be able to get the latest news in your particular field. Maybe even display certain stock prices that may or may not pertain to your business. Or better yet, be able to tailor your site for each of your clients and their needs. You could let your customers easily access information pertaining to the business that they do with you, such as past orders, update shipping information and easily contact you for future orders or support.
By using PHP, ASP or one of the other many types of “server side” languages, a web site can be made to show dynamic data, such as news, customer information, up to the minute inventory, current prices, and so on. “Server side” is a term used to describe which machine the code is interpreted on. The server, where the web site files are located, runs the code, and then sends it to the computer the visitor is using. This is more secure than “client side” where the code is interpreted on the visitor’s computer.
If you are interested in an “easier” alternative to adding dynamic functionality to your site, visit Hotscripts.com. At Hotscripts.com you can find pre-written scripts in most all coding languages. They have scripts from counters to eCommerce shopping carts, and most are available free or at a very low price. If you are familiar with updating your web site, most scripts are straight forward to install. Edit the “config” or “include” file with your server information and settings, FTP the require files to your site and test. Of course you want to make sure the script is written in a language that is compatible with your server.
